Workshop: Designing survey questions for citizen science projects

Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (EDT)
Talley Student Union

Researchers using citizen science often have to survey participants about their observations and experiences. No need to re-invent the wheel! Surveys are a well-understood social scientific methodology, and there is plenty of wisdom to share about the science and art of question design. This workshop will present a theoretical framework for writing survey questions, and invite the audience to assess and improve questions from their own projects.

Dr. Andrew Binder is Associate Professor in the Department of Communication whose quantitative research focuses on the communication of controversial science.

This is the first in a series on Social Science 101 for Citizen Science, sponsored by the Leadership in Public Science cluster at NC State University.
