I have worked for a quarter century in public communication of science and technology including a large grant to study how the public makes sense of toxicological information. My four most relevant activities to date: Assessment director and societal research coordinator of Research Triangle Nanotechnology Network involving Duke and UNC-CH. member of the US FDA Risk Communication Advisory Committee, member of the Board of Science Counselors for the National Toxicology Program of the US NIH. and research fellow with Genetic Engineering and Society at NCSU. Currently teaching courses in Communication and Social Change, Climate Change Communication, and Risk Communication. Currently, work on a manuscript on Public Understanding of Zika. Finally, I have written multiple articles on emergence, stakeholders, community engagement and public outreach involving emerging sciences.
