Stephanie Jeffries

I strive to connect my NC State students to real-world experiences and experiential learning that helps build their career skills. In the large enrollment GEP course, Introduction to Environmental Science, I embrace the expanse of environmental sciences through participatory science and personal responsibility with the goal of building lifelong environmental literacy and citizenship. Finally, I frequently write for and teach to a public audience. In 2014, I wrote an ecological hiking guide to the Southern Appalachians, Exploring Southern Appalachian Forests, published by UNC Press. I love doing outreach activities (mainly centered around forest ecology), including hikes, presentations, classes, interviews, and writing internet articles and social media posts, for people of all ages and backgrounds. I want people to see that science is all about discovery.
