Please join special guest Tarla Rai Peterson for an informal talk and practical discussion on the promise and pitfalls of citizen participation in natural resource decision-making. Professor Peterson, now of the University of Texas-El Paso, is one of the nation’s premier scholars of issues at the intersection of communication, public participation, and sustainability. Her work on topics as diverse as poaching, the smart grid, climate change and soil conservation has always focused on listening to unheard voices and challenging us to go beyond platitudes about public engagement.
